While it’s technically been almost two weeks since the Summer Solstice, and multiple heat waves (and many socio-political horrors) later, I still find myself gripping onto spring. The daffodils popping up all around my neighborhood, watching the buds bloom on the trees, the swans skimming across the lake—nature has a way planting that seed of hope (no pun intended…or maybe it is intended, dammit!) after what feels like an eternity of grey cold months.
The transitional seasons are truly my jam, and while I’m adoring my days at the beach, significantly later sunsets, and neighborhood block parties, I miss my damn layering! This spring, I feel like I really hit my stride after my usual “wtf did I wear when the weather was exactly like this” that occurs *every* year when the seasons change, despite living in the same temperate climate all of my life. Below are 7 outfits that put a lil ole pep in my step while living amongst the persisting horrors in the belly of the beast (aka this country).
52 degrees with some texture on texture

Okay…so these first two miiiight be slightly cheating since I technically wore them in the winter (and layered a heavier coat on top of them). But the above one was a New York fool’s spring day that also happened to be on New Year’s Eve!
50-55 degrees and giving Black Dandyism

I wore the above look to a fashion show during NYFW in some frigid weather, but I would definitely wear this again in the spring without a heavy coat if it’s in the low-mid 50s.
And now the fits actually worn post Spring Equinox:
57 degrees with a chance of athleisure and layered vintage

55 degrees and she’s *mysterious*, *moody* and still won’t use an *iron*

72 degrees with some Miu Miu Spring 2025 inspiration

73 degrees and a DIY hip pad/bustle as a lil treat

And ending this with one of my favorite outfits I’ve worn in months:
64 Degrees with a high chance of color and print clashing

Signing off here and I’ll have (or force 😬) a summer dressing article to be posted soon.
And remember…
Hope is a practice! Talk to your neighbors! Participate in mutual aid! Form an affinity group! Get involved in a community fridge or garden! Only we will save us! Let’s collectively imagine the world we want to build! And don’t give up even if it’s only out of spite for these taints in office!
xx
Killers looks, hope is a practice!
